The Chechen capital of Grozny is gearing up to host the Caucasus Investment Forum on 15–17 July 2024. As part of the event, ten regions of the North Caucasus will be running stands to showcase their investment and economic potential, demonstrate their achievements in key development areas, and serve as a venue for holding meetings with potential partners and investors, exchange experience, and build new business ties.
“The Government of the Russian Federation is paying a great deal of attention to the North Caucasus as a promising region for investment, recreational and human resources. More than 731 billion roubles were allocated from the federal budget in 2023 for the sustainable development of the constituent entities of the North Caucasus Federal District. The implementation of groundbreaking investment projects alone brought over 362 billion roubles into the District’s economy in 2021–2023. These investments are expected to reach almost 2 trillion roubles by 2030. We are working diligently to make this happen, and the Caucasus Investment Forum is a part of that work. Last year’s event was attended by representatives of 15 countries, and around 50 agreements worth over 150 billion roubles were signed at the Forum. We are confident that we can beat those figures this year,” said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
The biggest opportunities for economic growth in the North Caucasus Federal District have emerged in the agro-industrial complex, and the tourism and health resort sectors. Manufacturing is also demonstrating impressive growth. These are the areas, among others, that the regional stands will focus on. Visitors to the stands will also be able to take virtual tours of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Chechen Republic, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Stavropol Territory, the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, the Republic of Adygea, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Ingushetia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, where they can experience the unique nature of these territories and learn about their national customs and traditions.
The regions will also focus on breakthrough investment projects. For example, Stavropol Territory plans to showcase the Caucasian Mineral Waters as the only remaining agglomeration of spa resorts in the Russian Federation. The Republic of Adygea will present two major projects that will become the focus of development for the region: “The Creation of an Industrial Zone in the Takhtamukaysky District”, and the “Lagonaki Year-Round Mountain Eco-Resort”. The Kabardino-Balkarian Republic’s stand will feature information on the projects to resume the mining and processing of molybdenum-tungsten ores from the Tyrnyauz deposit and the creation of a hi-tech park in the city of Nalchik, among other plans. The Republic of Ingushetia will talk about the opportunities that are opening up in the region in connection with the construction of the Trans-Caspian route of the North–South International Transport Corridor, as well as with the proposed new route through the Caucasian mountain pass. Those who visit the Chechen Republic’s stand will be treated to a large-scale exhibition, complete with various themed areas.
The Forum programme will also include business meetings, the signing of agreements, an extensive cultural itinerary, interactive events with prize draws, and tastings of products made by regional agricultural producers at the stands.
The Caucasus Investment Forum is held annually to promote the sustainable socioeconomic development of the North Caucasus Federal District.
The theme of this year’s Forum is “The Greater Caucasus: From Sea to Sea”. The agenda will focus on key issues of the development of the North Caucasus Federal District with the aim of increasing the region’s investment attractiveness and ensuring its speedy economic and social development.
The Roscongress Foundation is organizing the Forum with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
