The Days of the Regions of the North Caucasus Federal District recently took place at the International RUSSIA EXPO at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow. Regional leaders assessed the work of the stands, experts held business sessions, and creative teams introduced guests to the region’s national culture at concerts, games, and master classes. The stands of all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District will once again be on display at the Caucasus Investment Forum, which will take place in Mineralnye Vody in May 2024.

On 18 January, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov held a meeting in Mineralnye Vody about preparations for the Caucasus Investment Forum, which will be held on 28–30 May 2024 at the MinvodyEXPO Multifunctional Exhibition Centre.

This year, the exhibition area that will showcase regional enterprises will double in size. At least 3,000 participants are expected to attend the Forum. Forum officials are currently working on issues concerning their accommodation.

Last year, the first Caucasus Investment Exhibition was a success: more than 3,000 people from 15 countries attended the 30 events of the business programme. The value of agreements signed at the exhibition exceeded RUB 150 billion. Based on a decree from the Russian president, this year the event will be held in a new large-scale format and will become an annual event. The North Caucasus Federal District has powerful growth potential, and our job is to unite the efforts of government and business representatives for further regional development and interregional cooperation. In this regard, we are expanding the exhibition part, the focus areas of the business programme, and the geography of participants,” Reshetnikov said.

Reshetnikov toured the exhibition centre site, assessed the work that has been carried out so far, and gave instructions following the meeting.

Stavropol Territory Governor Vladimir Vladimirov called the Caucasus Investment Forum an additional driver of support for regional projects. “This year, the regions of the Southern Federal District will be represented at the Forum. We are welcoming a wider range of partners and guests and expanding the geography of our economic cooperation. Our region is located in the centre of the North Caucasus, and today we are committed to establishing the basis for the development of the North–South Transport Corridor through joint efforts. Holding the Forum helps solve this problem.”

During the discussion, Caucasus Investment Forum Director Vladimir Zatynayko focused on the key theme of the Forum. “The theme of this year’s Forum will be ‘The Greater Caucasus: from Sea to Sea’, thanks to which the regions of the North Caucasus, the Southern Federal District, CIS countries, the Caspian and Black Sea basins, and other partners will take part in the Caucasus Investment Forum. Our job is to present new business ideas, destinations, and tourism opportunities in the Russian regions to a broad audience. We also plan to hold an investment prize award ceremony.”

Caucasus.RF Deputy General Director Rustam Tapayev said that the Unified Development Institute of the North Caucasus Federal District will serve as a co-organizer of the business programme with expert sessions, as well as a partner of events as part of sports and cultural events.

“This influential and large-scale Forum will bring together key investors, development institutions, banks, and the leaders of the North Caucasus regions on a single platform. Right now, the business programme is actively being developed in which the main focus will be the development of domestic tourism, the agro-industrial complex, transport infrastructure, the banking sector, as well as energy and international cooperation. Caucasus.RF will present its stand at the Forum, which will be stylized as a mountain eco-trail passing through the regions of the North Caucasus, with our flagship investment projects in each region,” Tapayev said.

A Youth Day is also planned as part of the Forum. It will focus on the implementation of youth policy in the macro-region and be attended by schoolchildren, students, and aspiring professionals who are passionate about entrepreneurship. On Youth Day, roundtables, meetings, master classes, and other events will be held to integrate young people into the country’s economic development processes, as well as give young participants the opportunity to present their own investment projects.

The Forum will be managed by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the federal authorities, the office of the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian president in the North Caucasus Federal District, heads of state corporations, members of business associations and public organizations in the district, as well as representatives of industry communities.
