Members of Caucasus Investment Forum Organizing Committee Approved

11/20/2023

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who is in charge of the affairs of the North Caucasus Federal District, approved the members of the Organizing Committee of the Caucasus Investment Forum. Advisor to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov will serve as deputy chairman of the Organizing Committee and the executive secretary.

The Organizing Committee includes Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, in addition to deputy ministers of finance, economic development, industry and trade, foreign affairs, agriculture, transport, energy, digital development, communications and mass media, education, sports, as well as construction, housing, and utility services. The heads of regions that make up the North Caucasus Federal District, senior executives from major state corporations, and members of business associations and public organizations will be involved in preparations for the Caucasus Investment Forum 2024.

“The North Caucasus Federal District has enormous potential. We are seeing great interest in the development of its regions from business, its residents, as well as representatives of the Caspian Five countries. This was confirmed by the Caucasus Investment Exhibition, which was held for the first time in May of this year, and the lively dialogue between the state, business, and public institutions at the event venue. I firmly believe that the Caucasus Investment Forum will become a business and exhibition platform that will strengthen ties and provide an additional impetus to the development of the North Caucasus Federal District,” Novak said.

The Organizing Committee is being created to coordinate and monitor activities in all areas and events related to the Caucasus Investment Forum 2024. The first meeting of the Organizing Committee will take place in the near future.

“Planned preparations for the Caucasus Investment Forum are under way. In spring of next year, the event will be held for the first time with this status in accordance with a decree of the Russian president. The region is incredibly interesting. As the main character of the famous Russian film [Kidnapping, Caucasian Style] said: it is a forge, a granary, and a health resort. The most interesting thing is that there are almost no regions in the world that simultaneously combine such enormous potential in agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. The question is how to unleash this potential, so there should be maximum attention to the Forum. Work will be carried out in all areas: the business programme, interaction with partners, participants, and the media, the development of regulations for medical and transport support, the event promotion programme, and other issues. Roughly 3,000 people visited the Caucasus Investment Exhibition in May of this year. Some 50 agreements worth more than RUB 150 billion were signed at the venue. We expect that next year’s Forum will generate great interest among businesses, which will translate into increased interest among entrepreneurs in the region itself. This is in the interests of the whole country and all of us,” Kobyakov said.

The Caucasus Investment Exhibition, which was held in the city of Mineralnye Vody in May 2023, not only served as an expert and exhibition platform, but also a site for negotiations and the signing of business contracts for major projects and agreements.

The Caucasus Investment Forum 2024 aims to enhance the investment potential of the North Caucasus Federal District and its sustainable socioeconomic development. The Forum will take place in spring 2024 and will be organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
